Floor Sanding

Sanding - Depending on the condition of the floor the correct grade of paper is selected. The sanding process begins with a 40 or 60 grit sandpaper to finish sand with 100 grit. The process for the edges is similar. The floor is then "screened" or finished with a large three disc rotary sander to blend the two processes together. The machines used are of the highest quality, and with Tims 8 years of sanding and sealing knowledge provide a virtually dust free sanding experience.

Completion - On completion the room and floor is thoroughly vacuumed before the finish is applied.

To protect the beauty of hardwood flooring in your home, proper maintenance is essential. Good maintenance practices will preserve the shine of the floor's finish as well as help the topcoat protect the wood beneath. By observing some simple suggestions, you will be able to continue to enjoy the warmth and beauty that wooden floors will add to your home for years to come.
Basic Care
• Keep grit off the floor - fine particles of grit and dirt act like sandpaper and abrade the floor finish. Vacuum at least once a week. Dust mop or sweep in between weekly cleaning.
• Immediately wipe up spills and tracked in dirt with a lightly dampened cloth, and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
• Use protective mats and area rugs. Mats at all exterior doors help prevent dirt and grit from entering your home.
• Movement of chairs and tables can cause excessive wear on your floor finish. Felt protectors minimize this wear. Install felt or fabric-covered floor glides on all furniture at floor contact points, and clean/replace them periodically.

Treatex Maintenance Basics

• For normal soiling dilute 1/4 cup Treatex® Floor Care per gallon of water. Mop the surface with this solution ensuring that the mop is only damp and never wet. This process both cleans and maintains the floor at the same time.

• For heavier soiling or more intensive maintenance, increase the strength of the solution to a maximum ratio of 1:10 (i.e. approximately 1 3/4 cups of Treatex Floor Care per 1 gallon of water).

• To apply wax, first remove loose dust and dirt with a broom or vacuum cleaner. To remove water-soluble stains, add Treatex® Floor Care (1/4 cup in 1 gallon) to your mop water and use this solution to clean the floor. Wipe the floor dry and allow it to dry thoroughly for approx. 3 hours. Apply Treatex® Wax Polish thinly and evenly over the surface with a lint-free cotton cloth and remove all excess immediately. Allow polish to dry and buff lightly if required.
